The Division of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a neuromuscular neuropsychologist (NN). The NN will be expected to lead research efforts into the imaging, cognitive, and behavioral components of children and young adults with neuromuscular disorders. The NN will also provide a full range of psychotherapeutic, diagnostic and training activities, provide high-level psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidenced-based treatment services, primarily for children with neuromuscular disorders or other pediatric neurological disorders, in inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical duties will comprise 25% of the individual’s time commitment. Clinical activities will take place primarily at Primary Children’s Hospital and the Eccles Outpatient Building.

The Division maintains an excellent collegial relationship with our Neuromuscular and neuroimaging colleagues and neuromuscular care and psychological evaluation and treatment is an area of expanding need. Beyond this, the Division provides specialty care in a variety of pediatric and developmental neurological conditions including epilepsy, vascular disease, movement disorders, neonatal neurology, headache and functional neuroimaging. In addition to research and clinical care, the faculty member will participate in education activity, with opportunities in quality improvement and advocacy as well.

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. from an APA accredited graduate program; and must possess research experience in pediatric neuromuscular disorders, including publications; and prior experience in neuromuscular clinical trials. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Tenure Track at the rank of Assistant Professor.
