Assist with daily operations of the Surface Analysis Lab, including care and operation of lab equipment.
This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at work site if they are healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms.
Assist with daily operations of the Surface Analysis Lab. Job duties will involve routine cleaning and
maintenance of advanced analytical instruments, and assisting users with the lab. Part of the job duties
to become proficient in several surface analysis techniques ( AFM , Optical Profilometry, SEM , etc.) such
that you can
provide scientific support to the lab users.
The incumbent follows well established
laboratory procedures to complete work. Sensitive or unusual situations are referred to the supervisor.
Work is performed under the close supervision of senior laboratory personnel. Work is frequently
reviewed for accuracy and to ensure adherence to research protocols. This job description is not

parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure

This is an entry level position and on the job training is provided. The ability to understand and carry
out verbal and written instructions; the ability to keep accurate records; and demonstrated human
relations and effective communication skills highly preferred. A general knowledge of laboratory procedures,
equipment and terminology; the ability to
operate and care for laboratory equipment; and a knowledge of appropriate specimen handling
