The University Counseling Center (UCC) welcomes applications for a part-time Mental Health Therapist to work in our multidisciplinary campus counseling agency. This position is open to mental health professionals in social work, clinical mental health counseling, psychology, and marriage and family therapy.
Primarily responsible to provide individual and couples counseling, with intake assessments, case management and crisis duties as assigned. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to working effectively from a multicultural orientation with our diverse college student population.

Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.*) certificate for clinical practice and two years directly related experience; demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team; ability to communicate verbally as well as in writing; and experience with conflict resolution when counseling individuals, couples and groups required. Experience working with community resources, instructing and supervising Social Workers, Interns and other caseworkers preferred. Five years of experience may be required in some areas. *An L.C.S.W. is earned after completing 4000 hours of Social Work experience and a passing score on the L.C.S.W. exam.
Department Specific Qualifications
At a minimum, candidates must demonstrate eligibility for licensure for independent practice in Utah as follows: For Social Work, have completed a Masters of Social Work and obtained licensure as a Clinical Social Worker. For Professional Counseling, have completed a Masters of Mental Health Counseling and obtained licensure as an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor. For Psychology, have completed anAPA-accredited doctoral internship in counseling or clinical psychology and obtained licensure as a Certified Psychology Resident For Marriage and Family Therapy, have completed a clinical master’s or doctorate degree in marriage and family therapy accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy and obtained licensure as an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist.
Applicants must document experience providing short term counseling to individuals and couples; and experience with crisis intervention and clinical consultation. Candidates must demonstrate excellent human relations skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Current licensure for independent practice in Utah, in social work, professional counseling, psychology or marriage and family therapy. Preference will be given to candidates with documented experience working with a multidisciplinary team, previous experience in college student mental health counseling and crisis intervention, a strong commitment to and expertise in multicultural issues, and familiarity with Salt Lake Valley community resources. Fluency in Mandarin or language other than English is also preferred.
