Work Schedule Summary

1. The Meal Delivery staff need to be available Monday – Sunday from 11:00am – 2:00pm and 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

2. Meal Delivery staff will also work on holidays, such as Labor Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day.

3. Thanksgiving coverage will be needed based on demand at that time.

4. Allowance for a weekend or day off would be managed through other co-workers to cover a portion of your assigned deliveries. Weekend or day off requests should be limited to 1 per month.

Job Summary

The Meal Delivery position is a part-time, temporary position of Housing & Residential Education and the Student Affairs Division at the University of Utah.

There will be a team of Meal Delivery staff who will support students who are in isolation or quarantine spaces in Housing & Residential Education by obtaining the meal from the respective dining center and delivering it to the outside of the individual’s room door.

This position will report to the Associated Director of Dining Management during the week and be supported by the Resident Directors who are serving in on-call capacity for the weekend.

The successful Meal Delivery staff member will have the following skill sets: ability to maintain confidential information, integrity with door access resources provided, organization ability, flexibility, ability to report to work through all types of weather, and commitment to the Mission and Values of the Housing & Residential Education department.

Responsibilities

The Meal Delivery staff member is employed in Housing & Residential Education to help provide meals to residents who are either isolating or in quarantine due to COVID -19. This is a week day, weekend and holiday position.

Use of a personal cell phone is required for this position.

Order confirmation

a. Meal Delivery staff will utilize a list of meals to be picked up and delivered to room numbers within an assigned zone.

b. Staff member will go to the dining center associated with the assigned zone to obtain the bags containing meals and gather them for delivery.

c. If there are meals missing or a meal is inaccurate i.e. does not accommodate dietary restrictions, Staff will work with the Dining chef to obtain an alternate meal to be delivered.

Delivery

a. Staff member will access the building of the delivery to be made, go to the room number and place the associated bag outside of the door.

b. Staff member will knock on the door at the time of delivery and leave the location.

Reporting

a. Staff member will report to the Associate Director or on weekends to the Resident Director on-call any issues that arise and seek direction if the solution is not evident.

b. Staff member will provide notice that they have completed their deliveries.

Notice: This is a health and safety low-risk activity. The Meal Delivery staff are expected to comply with Salt Lake County and University policy to wear a face covering in indoor locations and outdoors when physical distancing is not feasible. Wearing a face covering indoors lowers the risk of this activity.

Minimum Qualifications

This is a seasonal, temporary, non-benefited position that can be used for positions six months or less.

Seasonal work generally means work that by its very nature can only be performed during certain times of the year.

Preferences

REQUIRED :

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information and security access

• Ability to lift 20 pounds and carry it for a distance.

• Ability to walk for up to an hour at a time.

• Ability to take direction in the English language.

• Experience with analyzing and problem solving skills.

• Ability to multi-task and remain organized

• Valid driver’s license preferred

Preference is given to current Housing & Residential Education staff members who have passed a background check.
