Job Summary
Designs, coordinates, and executes a wide range of marketing/communications. Performs a variety of writing, design, and project management tasks while using good judgment and strong interpersonal skills to plan and execute marketing/communications strategies. Supports and leads communication around development work, including information for alumni, donors, local schools and service organization leadership, and other key stakeholders. Works collaboratively with marketers, designers, videographers, photographers, social media and web personnel, and other campus communicators. Utilizes traditional and electronic publishing technologies to produce communications that implement project objectives.
Responsibilities
1. Develops and executes communication plans that align with institution and college priorities. Consults with college areas and partners to develop supporting communications plans that reflect the university’s overall communications strategy.
2. Responsible for updating existing material and creating new materials while incorporating a dedicated focus on topics linked to diversity, equity and inclusion.
3. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of local and national educational issues.
4. Develops and communicates on various projects to stakeholders, both internal and external.
5. Responsible for monitoring effectiveness of communication tactics and adjusting communication plans as necessary.
6. Proofreads all communications and monitors media.
7. Manages a social media profile for the College of Education and other aspects of content for website and other dissemination.
8. Develops and adheres to project timelines.
9. Ensures that distributed material is accurate and timely.
10. May perform other related technical duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.
Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
