Job Summary

University of Utah Connected Learning ( UCL ) is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to facilitate outreach for its programs and initiatives. Programs include Continuing Education, UOnline, Digital Learning, and partnerships and collaboration with University academic programs. UCL provides the enabling services, programs, and tools to connect U students and community learners with flexible educational offerings, allowing them to learn, return, and refresh throughout their careers and a lifetime of learning. The Marketing Coordinator plays a critical role using communication and project management skills in building awareness and connecting students to life-changing UCL offerings. Located at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City; hybrid work eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and implements marketing communication projects on behalf of University Connected Learning ( UCL ) programs. Projects include print collateral, advertising campaigns, email newsletters, social media outreach, public relations, creating brand awareness, and special events management. This role is responsible for managing the delivery of these projects in a timely manner, working with creative resources, software platforms, vendors, and UCL staff.
  • Writes and produces written communications tools including status updates, meeting agendas, creative briefs, etc.
  • Writes customer-facing contents such as advertisements, press releases and public service announcements, occasionally, to facilitate overflow work of copywriters.
  • When necessary provides video camera work, editing, script writing and production for public service announcements, social media outreach, and/or promotional videos.
  • Identifies target market and advertising space to purchase for magazines, newspapers, and radio. Ensures nation-wide attention and awards by staying current on award contests and working with the Design and Marketing areas to enter these competitions.
  • Assists in marketing surveys, research projects and focus groups from initial questionnaires to compiling information.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related area, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). One year of related experience and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

Experience in different styles of writing, publishing software packages and advertising concepts may be preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

  • Familiarity with project management principles.
  • Experience with project management software platforms.
  • Ability to use Adobe Creative software.
