Job Summary

The Bennion Center is looking to hire a part-time intern to assist with the internal operations of our Marketing & Communication activities. The internship will consist primarily of digital/print content creation, student recruitment advertising tactics, and campus outreach activities in support of the Bennion Center’s staff, student leaders, and our mission to inspire people to strengthen their communities.

The learning objectives of this internship will include:

i. Strategic content planning

ii. Marketing content production & coordination

iii. Communication channels training & execution

iv. Data analysis, reporting, & optimization

As part of this internship, a final project in one (or all) of the areas above will be required.

This internship is work -study eligible. However, it is open to all students, regardless of work-study status.

Job Duties Include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Assist in the coordination of the Comm Team’s creative planning, production, placement, and distribution of marketing content to U of U students, staff, faculty, and alumni
  • Help design, update, and re-size marketing materials in Canva or Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premier, etc.)
  • Update campus calendars (Trumba, Campus Connect) and upcoming ways to engage on our website and across social media channels
  • Ensure timely placement of advertising on campus through digital monitors, a-frames, and flyers
  • Recruit students through class presentations, Canvas announcements, and tabling events
  • Schedule email campaigns in Mailchimp and manage our subscriber lists
  • Assist in the gathering of program data and stories for our annual report
  • Help facilitate market research activities through questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, etc.
  • Assist in the measurement and monthly reporting of our marketing performance indicators
  • In general, support the Marketing Director and the Communication Team’s weekly needs

  • Additional job duties can be created based on your area(s) of experience and/or strong interest

  • As part of this internship, a final project will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience and/or a strong interest in the area(s) of website management, graphic design, social media, photography, video/editing, or copywriting.


Preference will be given to students looking to gain hands-on experience in pursuit of a marketing-related career, as well as proficiency in manipulating Excel spreadsheets and website design
