Under minimal supervision, local or remote worker responsible for planning, organizing, directing and/or controlling all aspects pertaining to clinical research functions of assigned department’s internal and external customer service, staffing and financial management operations pertaining to areas including (but not limited to) clinical data, standardization, statistical analysis, monitoring clinical trials, and development and completion of clinical studies. Acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service and care.
1. Forecasts, develops and implements policies and procedures in the areas of staffing and budgetary goals and objectives that are consistent with University of Utah’s policies.
2. Markets, promotes and coordinates new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers.
3. Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships.
4. Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.
5. Develops departmental strategies consistent with the assigned department’s continuous quality improvement program.
6. Ensures competency of staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and through on going staff performance evaluations.
7. This position will work with the project teams from all the study sites. They will support allFITBIRdata sharing, as well as project management responsibilities, to include:
•arrange and participate in project conference calls
•coordinate efforts for trans-disciplinary specialists to work together
•help perform data cleaning as needed
•assist with determination of concise treatment variable definitions,
•assist with incorporating intervention descriptions into standard documentation
•develop training materials to accompany intervention descriptions
•develop training materials for data collectors (CSIand auxiliary data module (ADM) elements)
•co-conduct training sessions for data abstractors
•help with data quality and reliability checks for data collection
•help perform project analyses as requested
•help interpret study findings
•attend project meetings
•help write progress reports
•contribute to papers for publication based on study findings
•identify existing CDEs related to theORIONstudy variables
•using existingFITBIRform structures, as applicable, for theORIONstudy
•generate GUIDs for each subject in theORIONstudy
•format study data to conform to theFITBIRCSVfile template
•create studies inFITBIR
•validate data usingFITBIRValidation Tool
•build a submission package(s) to upload toFITBIR
8. Submit quarterly data over the life of the grant and one final submission
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
