Under minimal supervision, responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling certain aspects of School of Medicine Dean’s Office financial management operations. Provides extensive internal and external support and customer service for the School of Medicine.
1.Provides internal and external support and customer service for the School of Medicine. Facilitates and researches policies and procedures for School of Medicine departmental administrators and staff. Analyzes complaints, concerns and suggestions and provides appropriate follow through.
2.Manages certain School of Medicine level financial processes.
3.Functions as a financial manager for specifiedSOMDean’s Office units.
4.Supports Dean’s Office and School of Medicine budget processes. Provides technical support and budgetary guidance. Reviews budgets and provides assistance to ensure accuracy and completeness.
5.Reviews and approves documents requiring a Dean’s Office signature. Requires extensive working knowledge of the University of Utah’s policies and procedures.
6.Provides assistance, prepares reports and completes other projects as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
•Expertise and significant experience in University of Utah financial processes, systems and reports is strongly preferred.
•Experience with research grant administration.
