Job Summary

Advanced level trades skills to perform maintenance and repair work of equipment, machinery, appliances, utilities, buildings, facilities, fixtures, systems, etc. in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty.

1) Performs routine cleaning in parking structures and their parking surfaces which may include the usage of leaf blowers in stairwells and outer perimeters.

2) Follows Supervisor’s or Manager’s instructions to ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

3) Conducts routine checks on machinery to determine if maintenance is required. Report needed repairs to the Supervisor or Manager for further action.

4) Transport supplies and equipment as needed.

5) Maintain tools and equipment needed for the safe operation.

6) May include some janitorial services.

7) Record and request supplies needed for the position.

8) Understand and recognize proper storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals being used.

9) May be required to assist special events by setting up barricades, delineators, etc to close off areas that may be required.

11) Check parking lot and parking structure lighting monthly and report findings to Supervisor or Manager.

12) Repair lighting in terraces as needed, report additional repairs to supervisor for further action by outside contractor.

13) Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Four years relevant work experience in the applicable trades areas; demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local building codes and standards; ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and be able to make mechanical sketches and drawings; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required. Requires lifting and transporting heavy objects. A valid Utah Driver’s license may be required.

4 years minimum maintenance experience. Knowledge of signs, posts, parking stalls, and ADA policies regarding installation. Knowledge of department and University of Utah policies and procedures regarding parking operations. A general knowledge of electronics and troubleshooting is desired. Must be able to work and perform repairs in all types of weather.
