Job Summary

The Learning Success Center (LSC) provides academic success programs to the University of Utah campus consisting of one-on-one and group tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and academic skills training and outreach. TheLSCExecutive Secretary provides administrative support to theLSCProgram Manager and Academic Coordinators. Duties include staffing theLSCoffice, processing payroll and coordinating/staffingLSCoutreach and campus tabling.


1.Assists students in finding appropriate academic resource, including making tutor referrals, selling time cards/vouchers, explaining relevant academic andLSCservices, providing employee referrals for former student employees

2.ChecksLSCoffice email and voicemail/phone daily

3.Processes bimonthly payroll, including reconciling payroll and Kronos time logs. Communicates with other university staff, faculty, and administrators regarding payroll and time logs.

4.Handles departmental deposits and log, including verifications

5.Emails tutors timecard turn-in reminders

6.Provides summer orientation outreach tabling and tabling regardingLSCservices when needed

7.Provides support for outreach/workshop staffing

8.HostsLSCopen houses

9.Maintains printed materials for outreach events and assists in creation of marketing materials

10.Orders office supplies and maintains upkeep of the office

11.Assists in webpage updates

12.Checks office physical mail

13.Provides customer service to students seeking out academic services

14.Provide assistance in scheduling meetings/rooms forLSCstaff

15.Assists with travel related needs and catering requests

16.Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency required. Four years full time secretarial experience or equivalency, word processing and spreadsheet software skills and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.

Knowledge of business writing preferred.
