Interlibrary Loan is a service whereby a user of one library can borrow books or receive photocopies of articles that are owned by another library. Document Delivery is a service that provides Marriott Library patronsPDFfiles of articles owned by our library. The employee in this position will process incoming Interlibrary Loan requests for patrons from other libraries and/or scan requested articles for our Document Delivery Service.
Employee will be assigned tasks in any of the following areas of the department;
Lending, Borrowing or Document Delivery.
Verify ownership and availability of materials from the Marriott Library’s collection using several software programs
Retrieve books and journals from the library’s collections
Scan or photocopy articles using various types of equipment and different technologies
Search and download articles from microfilm, microfiche and online databases
Other duties as assigned
Six months clerical or customer service experience required; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Good English comprehension and written language skills
Computer literacy and typing skills of at least 35 wpm
Familiarity with the Marriott Library catalog and databases
Willingness to learn complex procedures and new technologies
Attention to detail
Good problem solving skills
Special Instructions Summary
Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled in 6 undergraduate credit hours and 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.
