Work Schedule Summary
Outreach Interns’ hours vary by week, but will usually be 10-15 hours/week at the start of each term, with hours dropping to 5-10 hours/week by the end of the semester. These hours will include some evening and weekend hours. Known times that you will be expected to work increased hours include:
• Fall Learning Abroad Fair: late September/early October
• International Education Week: mid-November
• Spring Learning Abroad Fair: late January
Please note that Learning Abroad Outreach Interns:
• Must provide a minimum of 10 hours of availability per week for at the start of each term and a minimum of 5 hours of availability per week at the end of the semester
• Must log a minimum of 100 hours by the end of each term
• AreNOTrequired to work during finals, school breaks, or any days where class is not officially in session

The Learning Abroad Outreach Intern position is an employment opportunity in Learning Abroad for students who have participated in approved Learning Abroad programs. Learning Abroad Outreach Interns are primarily responsible for representing Learning Abroad and its opportunities across campus. Primary tasks include classroom visits, tabling, postering across campus, delivering marketing materials across campus, collaborating with on-campus offices and student groups, and contributing to Learning Abroad’s social media presence. Furthermore, this position entails additional responsibilities that help support the mission and initiatives of Learning Abroad.

*Educate fellow students and campus partners about Learning Abroad opportunities
*Engage 1:1 with campus and community members
*Improve professional skills in interpersonal communication, customer service, public relations, and public speaking.
*Maintain good standing and full-time status at the University of Utah
*Complete an approved Learning Abroad program by the time of employment start date
*Notify Learning Abroad if otherwise employed by any other office or department at the University of Utah
*Demonstrate a minimum availability (scheduling flexibility) of 15 hours per week
*Commit to two semesters (one academic year) of employment
*Present to on-campus classes, residence halls, and student groups to increase participation in Learning Abroad by all members of the University of Utah student community, including populations underrepresented in learning abroad;
*Help with the preparation and facilitation of Learning Abroad’s Fall and Spring Fairs, as well as other outreach events for the Office of Admissions and other campus partners;
*Promptly communicate with Learning Abroad staff and all affiliated faculty, staff, and students while ensuring excellent customer service and high degree of professionalism;
*Help distribute print and electronic Learning Abroad materials, and assist with other outreach initiatives such as posting flyers around campus;
*Attend weekly team meetings;
*Consistently practice a high level of attention to detail and superior organization skills to execute tasks;
*Keep detailed and accurate written records of hours worked;
*Assist Learning Abroad with its social media presence;
*Assist with general tasks in the Learning Abroad office when necessary.
The above are general responsibilities for Learning Abroad Outreach Interns. Actual duties may vary depending on individual interests, skills, and office needs.
