Work Schedule Summary

Build a fixed/set schedule that works with your classes within normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm).

Please note that Learning Abroad student staff:

• Must provide a minimum of 15 hours/week of availability for scheduling purposes

• Must work at least 10 hours per week

• Must maintain set schedule the entire semester

• Are NOT required to work during finals, school breaks, or any days where class is not officially in session

DESCRIPTION

The Learning Abroad Marketing Peer Advisor has a passion for all things international and has a strong desire to help students on campus find opportunities to grow and develop in new ways. Apply for this position if you love social media, using your creative skills to tell a story, and if you like to nerd out to data and analytics. All peer advisors work to help students find Learning Abroad experiences and navigate the application process. The Marketing Peer Advisor assists in developing, maintaining, and executing the Learning Abroad marketing strategy with the overall goal of enhancing brand awareness and bringing student perspectives to Learning Abroad’s digital and print marketing.

This position is considered Category IIA : Not required on campus and has the ability to telework remotely for the duration of the University of Utah’s response to COVID -19. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID -19 Telecommuting Agreement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

• Maintain good standing and full-time status at the University of Utah

• Willing to commit to AT LEAST one academic year of employment (summer employment possible)

• Notify Learning Abroad if otherwise employed by any other office or department at the University of Utah

Responsibilities

ADVISING TASKS (10%)

• Lead Learning Abroad 101 information sessions

• Assist students with initial advising at the front desk and in peer advisor appointments

CLERICAL TASKS (40%)

• Serve as the first point of reference for students and community members at the front desk: Appointment scheduling and Answering phone calls and emails

• Complete administrative duties as needed: Application management, data entry, file creation, office organization, and restocking materials

MARKETING TASKS (50%)

• Work alongside our marketing team to curate our social media storytelling & the office newsletter, plan events, and help support other strategic initiatives as assigned

• Students with design skills will have many opportunities to complete both digital and print projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Major in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Film and Media Arts, Entertainment Arts and Engineering, Photography, Illustration, or other relevant area

• Experience living in, studying in, or traveling to another country

• Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion

• Experience with video editing and/or design software, especially Adobe Creative Suite

• Previous experience with Social Media management

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
