The Ayer lab at Huntsman Cancer Institute seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated and hard-working lab specialist to join our research team. We are focused on understanding the role of Myc family transcription factors in growth, metabolism and tumorigenesis. We employ biochemical, cell biological and genomic approaches to address this important problem. Please see our website for more details.
The successful applicant for this position will have experience in cell culture, molecular biology (e.g.PCR, Gibson cloning),CRISPRgene editing methods, and chromatin immunoprecipitation. Proficiency inSDS-PAGEand Western blotting is also required. Understanding bioinformatic approaches and methods for analyzing next generation sequencing data is also a plus.
About 20% of the successful applicant’s time will be spent on general lab management, including but not limited to lab ordering, database management and reagent shipping and assisting with regulatory compliance.
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or other scientific discipline or equivalency; two years full-time laboratory experience; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Working knowledge of advanced scientific techniques and procedures as well as the ability to make statistical calculations, analyze results, prepare reports and perform specialized tests also required.

Bachelors or Masters Degree in a biological science plus a minimum of 3 years F/T lab experience.
• Skilled in the use of complex laboratory equipment; the ability to make statistical calculations, critically evaluate primary literature, analyze results and prepare reports; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
