The Department of Special Education at the University of Utah is seeking an outstanding candidate for a career line faculty (non-tenure track) position in the area of severe disabilities that involves supervision of field studies and student teaching, university course teaching, service, and scholarship. Rank dependent upon experience and qualifications. Candidates should have a minimum of a master’s degree in special education or a related field with an emphasis in severe disabilities and hold a current teaching license in special education. An active Utah special education teaching license is required and limits recruitment efforts to within the state of Utah. Candidates should also have a minimum 3 to 5 years teaching experience with students with severe disabilities, knowledge and skills related to both adaptive life skills and academic content area instruction, and an ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. In addition, candidates should have experience implementing evidenced-based practices, inclusion of students with severe disabilities and working in both elementary, secondary settings, and post high school programs. The career line faculty position involves a 9 month contract, renewed annually based on performance. Summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional pay. Salary is commensurate with experience.
