Job Summary

The Human Resources Department at the University of Utah is looking for a student to assist in recruitment and employment efforts here at the U. This student will work a hybrid schedule from the Downtown HR Office (250 E. 200 S.) and remotely to help a busy recruitment department track and post external job advertisements, attend recruitment and outreach events and respond to candidate inquiries.

The ideal candidate should have the ability to work independently, possess a positive attitude, strong attention to detail and an interest in learning more about recruitment marketing. University Human Resource Management serves an increasingly diverse constituency of employees and applicants. We are interested in identifying and interviewing candidates who have had experience working underrepresented groups and a passion for advancing an inclusive candidate experience.


  • Responds to hiring departments request to post job advertisements on external job boards.
  • Replies to incoming e-mail requests on current openings to interested parties. Updates and informs job seekers of current positions.
  • Serve as administrator on Applicant Tracking System, performing password resets and troubleshooting application issues with applicants.
  • Answers questions related to human resources and the job application process. Distributes job applications and assists interested parties in completing job applications.
  • Assists in crafting position descriptions and providing consultation to hiring departments on legal requirements and diversity, equity and inclusion best practices in recruitment strategy.
  • Assist in recruitment related activity such as attending job fairs or trainings for hiring departments, job seekers and community members.
  • Tracks job posting data and reconciles finances monthly.
  • Answers phones and refers calls to the appropriate party.
  • Communicates with applicants and hiring managers via email.
  • Assist in special projects throughout the Human Resources department.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of general office experience or equivalency; familiarity with general office equipment; and demonstrated organizational, computer, human relation and effective communication skills required.

Previous experience in a Human Resources office may be preferred but not required. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Background in customer service, data entry and/or familiarity with excel preferred.
