This position performs a variety of Human Resources transactional and support tasks. The primary responsibility is meeting with new hires to process their Form I-9, which veriﬁes that an individual is eligible to work in the United States. HR Assistant will be trained on the process, and will need to become a subject matter expert on the process. Attention to detail, accuracy, problem solving, and resourcefulness are desired for this position.
The job requires meeting with new hires, in person, at the HR oﬃce downtown. Social distancing protocols have been put in place. Employees must complete a safety training and sign an attestation about workplace health, safety, and behavior. Employees much wear a face covering at work.
As a student employee, you’ll gain valuable work experience in the ﬁeld of Human Resource Management. Incumbents will learn about a variety of HR areas, including (but not limited to) Employment Services, HR Solution Center, Recruitment, and Business Intelligence/Compensation.
This is a time limited position, that will last through Spring semester 2021. The job may be extended into Summer semester 2021, based on budget and need.
- Responsible for processing and completing paperwork with new hires;
- Coordinates timely completion of form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Veriﬁcation);
- Answers questions related to human resources and the hiring process;
- Replies to incoming e-mail requests;
- Consistently provides excellent customer service;
- Works with accuracy, detail, and maintains conﬁdentiality with high level of integrity.
Other responsibilities (performed when I-9 volume is decreased):
- May perform word processing and completes various types of correspondence;
- Assists in special projects throughout the Human Resources department;
- Support Recruitment, including posting jobs, responding to candidates, and transactions in the online job applicant tracking system;
- Support Employment Services, including processing forms and monitoring email;
- Support HR Solution Center, including ﬁle room support, data entry, and beneﬁt support;
- Support Business Intelligence/Compensation, including website clean up,
audits, and a variety of transactional support.

Two years of general office experience or equivalency; familiarity with general office equipment; and demonstrated organizational, computer, human relation and effective communication skills required. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of general oﬃce skills and equipment and personnel policies and procedures. Data entry experience is preferred. Previous experience in a Human Resources oﬃce is preferred. Bilingual preferred.
