Job Summary

A Research Assistant is needed to assist Dr. Rebekah Huber with research studies for adolescents with bipolar disorder in the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Huber is conducting studies using digital health technologies to examine sleep disturbance, cognition, and suicide risk in youth with bipolar disorder. These studies utilize actigraphy, ecological momentary assessment, and neuroimaging along with clinical and cognitive assessments. The Research Assistant will coordinate technical and administrative details involved in these studies. In addition, the Research Assistant will assist Dr. Huber in achieving study objectives through the successful implementation and completion of protocols and procedures.

This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at the University of Utah if they are healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms.

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant is responsible for the initial screening, scheduling, and recruitment of research participants in addition to maintaining contact with subjects throughout their study participation. The Research Assistant will administer standardized assessments to adolescent participants and is responsible for conducting clinical assessments, behavioral surveys, and administering the neurocognitive assessments.

The following are essential functions (not a comprehensive inventory of all duties) of the Research Assistant:

• Collects data and administers assessments for lab research studies.

• Assesses protocol for clarity and subject safety, reviews inclusion/exclusion criteria; clarifies concerns and questions with Principal Investigator.

• Attends and participates in Investigator and staff meetings. Advises team regarding specific study assignments and timelines.

• Explains and obtains informed consent, medical history and demographics; documents in source file and maintains with historical data, status reports, progress notes, and subject log to help ensure subject safety.

• Reports and tracks adverse events (AE). Reports AEs to Principal Investigator and IRB .

• Completes, audits, and corrects CRFs.

• May maintain contact with IRB and prepare and submit IRB documents.

Minimum Qualifications

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Preferences

Previous research experience.

Experience with adolescents.

Experience administering clinical or neurocognitive assessments.
