Job Summary

The Guest Services Associate will demonstrate exceptional customer service to each and every guest of the Natural History Museum of Utah both internal and external. The Associate will be responsible for ensuring an efficient, accurate, and informative transaction for all guests purchasing tickets from the museum’s admission desk and throughout their visit. This also includes the promotion and sales of the museum’s membership program. Additionally, the Associate will be responsible for maintaining and balancing a designated cash drawer each shift and be responsible for the accurate processing of coupons, promotions, and other associated administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

A.Provides exceptional customer service to each and every guest of the Natural History Museum of Utah, both internal and external, via clear, professional, and positive communication.

B.Maintains a positive guest experience within the Galleries and other public spaces of the Museum.

C.Ensures an efficient and informative transaction for each guest purchasing tickets; including providing details of museum special events, exhibitions and upcoming offerings.

D.Promotes and facilitates the sale of the Museum’s membership program.

E.Handles cash & credit card transactions in an efficient, accurate manner and balances designated cash drawer each and every shift.

F.Attempts to resolve guest concerns before escalating to the Guest Services Lead or Guest Services Manager.

G.Collaborates with all departments within the museum to create a seamless customer experience.

H.Utilizes radio in a professional manner for on the job communication throughout the building.

I.Maintains cleanliness of work environment; including stocking supplies for the admission desk.

J.Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months cashiering experience, basic mathematical skills, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Word processing and spreadsheet skills may be preferred for certain positions.

Students with federal work-study award for the 2019-2020 academic year are encouraged to apply.
