Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Guest & Member Experience Team Manager in ensuring outstanding guest service and effective operations of the Welcome Desk and museum galleries. Individual will make use of leadership skills in this position to model exceptional customer service, train new staff, and have supervisory responsibilities.

1. Guest Experience: Ensures customer service standards are met and exceeded and that guests needs and concerns are responded to in a timely manner. Works side by side with staff to model appropriate guest service standards.

2. People Management and Training: Gives feedback on staff performance and escalates the concerns to GME Manager if necessary. Works with GME Manager to implement guest services policies and procedures. Assists with interviewing, hiring, and development of all team members. Assists with required training for team members. Identify areas of opportunity and work to improve results. Promotes collaboration and a positive, professional work environment.

3. Workspace Management: Works with GMET Manager to maintain museum operations standards. Ensures a clean and safe work environment, and follows all NHMU procedures for guest/team member incidents. Tracks GMET operational supplies, such as maps and brochures and any other supplies as needed. Keeps an up to date inventory of all items and alerts the GME Manager when to order more supplies.

4. Lead Duties: Tasks include, but are not limited to – attending regular GMET Leadership meetings, completing online ticket requests for discount and member tickets, restocking cabinets and back office, being aware of daily museum happenings and sharing that with staff and other areas of the museum, getting change, refilling business cards, managing Lost and Found at the end of the month, perform opening/closing procedures, and handle money and the safe.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of retail sales experience with one year of experience supervising employees and buying merchandise; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Associate’s degree in Business, or a related field, or two years of related college work along with the above experience requirements is preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care.
