This position is responsible for the execution of various strategic value-added reimbursement initiatives and any reimbursement methodology related to Medicare and Medicaid having reimbursement implications to our system. This position is also responsible for data gathering, periodic reporting, analysis, and understanding operations of University of Utah Health. Analytical skills are an integral component for being successful in this position. You must be comfortable analyzing financial data and interpreting cost reports for executives.
Takes the lead with periodic reviews, year-end audits and compliance activities in support of external auditors and the internal finance operation.
Functions as internal business partner to operations including Finance Directors and Executive Directors of the various entities as well as the University Accounting Department.
Prepares and interprets management information and other financial reports.
Analyzes and audits cost data, patient level financial data, and other statistics.
Audits accounting systems, reconciles data, and resolves technical problems or recommends solutions when appropriate.
Analyzes trends and possible consequences.
Implements, and potentially leads, performance improvement initiatives.
Spearheads the preparation and evaluation of special projects.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.
Demonstrated leadership, management, human relations and effective communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of information technology, database systems, and data reporting tools.
Organizing and prioritizing multiple projects, determining the best course of action or appropriate resources needed to complete a project or address a problem, obtaining valid data and creating clear and understandable reports which reflect the data being sought is essential.
Spreadsheet and database skills; analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills required.
Ability to interpret regulations to ensure the University is in compliance with Federal, State and other requirements is vital.
Demonstrated experience in establishing working relationships.
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business finance, and accounting, or a related field, or equivalency.
Four years’ experience in a similar position.
- Master’s in Business Administration, or equivalency.
