University Information Technology, the central IT service provider for campus, reports to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for many of the University of Utah’s most critical common IT resources including the campus network; the Campus Information Services (CIS) portal; UMail, telephone, and online collaboration services; high performance and research computing; information security; teaching and learning technologies; software licensing; and a host of other systems and applications. 1. Prepares and interprets management information and other financial reports.
2. Analyzes financial documents, statistical data, historical data and presents to and interprets for management.
3. Participates in the establishment and maintenance of cost accounting systems.
4. Audits accounting systems, reconciles data, and resolves technical problems or recommends solutions when appropriate.
5. Analyzes trends and possible consequences.
6. Recommends and implements improvements that affect accounting systems and departmental operations.
7. Prepare and monitor departmental budget.
8. Oversee and prepare travel, journal entries, purchasing and inventory.
9. Manage conferences.
10. Other administrative tasks as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or equivalency; plus two years of related experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices; spreadsheet and database skills; knowledge of statistics and demonstrated analytical,problem solving, human relation and effective communication skills required.
An advanced degree, such as a Master’s of Business Administration, is preferred. Certain positions may require familiarity with hospital billing systems, Medicare and insurance reimbursement regulations, etc.
