Job Summary

Oversees some of the financial and business operations functions of the Dept. of Neurosurgery under the direction of the Administrative Director.

This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at the Clinical Neurosciences Center if they are healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms.


1. Oversees administrative matters regarding the day-to-day operations and procedures of elements pertaining to the department’s academic, research or administrative programs.

2. Assists in the development and maintenance of strategic and tactical planning/reporting for the department related to space and resource utilization including inventory tracking.

3. Prepares or assists in preparing operational and management accounting reports by downloading/inputting data into Excel spreadsheets and creating reports utilizing pivot tables, sorting, grouping, vlookups, etc.

4. Assesses departmental training needs and coordinates training programs to meet those needs.

5. Assists in the development and implementation of department-specific policies and procedures.

6. Serves as department representative in addressing issues and questions related to the department activities, which may include representing the department at meeting or on various committees.

7. Forecasts, prepares or directs the preparation of the department budgets and monitors expenditures. May negotiates terms of contracts and/or service agreements.

8. Performs certain payroll and human resource functions such as creating job postings, arranging interviews, answering employee questions, reviewing/updating time cards.

9. May facilitate the faculty recruitment, onboarding, and promotion processes.

10. May create and submit journal entries.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus two years of related experience or equivalency. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Significant experience and abilities with creating reports in Microsoft Excel.

Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial analysis.

Prior experience with budgeting and inventory tracking.

Ability to communicate clearly and work with people at all levels of the organization.
