GENERAL INTERNAL MEDICINE POSITION OPPORTUNITIES
UNIVERSITY OF UTAH
The Division of General Internal Medicine is recruiting 3 FTE , as clinician-investigators or investigators, for appointment in the Division of General Internal Medicine. The qualified applicants will receive a faculty appointment at the University of Utah commensurate with prior experience and be appointed to either the tenure or research track. Candidates must possess a M.D. or Ph.D. degree and post-doctoral research training, such as a General Medicine or equivalent clinical research-focused fellowship. Start-up funding is available to establish the investigator in the Division of General Internal Medicine until an independent program is established and/or a career-development award obtained. These funds are available for salary and program support during the first three years of the appointment to ensure sufficient protected research time to allow the establishment of an independent research program and/or receipt of a career-development award.
The Division of General Internal Medicine is building a robust, multi- faceted research program. Currently, the Division of General Internal Medicine has a history of clinical research in thrombosis, hypertension, and women’s health and has also been an institutional leader in quality-improvement and value-driven outcomes projects. Candidates should be interested in establishing an independent research program that builds on the strengths of the Division and adds new dimensions to our current portfolio.
The University of Utah has numerous, robust resources that are available for research collaboration outside of the Division of General Internal Medicine. These include the Department of Population Health Science, the other Divisions of the Department of Internal Medicine, the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, and the Veterans Affairs Hospital. We also strongly encourage interdisciplinary collaboration with the Colleges of Nursing, Health, and Pharmacy as well as research that will capitalize on existing community partnerships.
