Job Summary

The College of Science is seeking an experienced and talented Events Manager to lead our events for students, faculty, alumni, friends, prospective students, parents, and corporate partners.

This position will work closely with the College of Science leadership team to provide events logistics and management. Responsibilities include initiating, designing and executing events to increase high level engagement with our key constituents. The Events Manager will be charged with collaborating with all members of the College of Science Dean’s Office Team.

1. Assists with facilitating, planning, publicizing, and implementing College of Science events and programs in a professional manner consistent with University of Utah’s policies.

2. Manages the activities of staff, volunteers, subcontractors and vendors as required to successfully execute all aspects of the College events and programs.

3. Arranges logistics for all events and provides administrative support, including preparation and dissemination of informational materials and communications regarding the event. This may include, but not limited to; audiovisual usage, catering, security, supplies, transportation/parking, and guest services.

4. Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with College partners, alumni, students, potential students, guests, staff, and vendors, including marketing for events and appropriate follow-up.

5. Provides administrative support.

6. May administer and monitor event budgeting, tracking, and event invoice review and approval.

Problem Solving

Demonstrated leadership skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills are essential to the position. Ability to oversee multiple projects/events and work assignments for a variety of staff, volunteers, and subcontractors.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency and 3 years of progressively more responsible events coordination experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. A related field may include but is not limited to: Business, Communications, Hotel / Hospitality Management, Sports Management and Public Relations.

Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and supervising employees and processes.
