Red Butte Garden is seeking a part time Education Outreach Assistant. Join a great team and gain valuable experience planning and teaching on and off-site school programs throughout the state of Utah.
•Teaching on and off-site school programs to elementary school students.
•Assisting with Teacher workshop trainings.
•Traveling and providing high-quality inquiry-based horticulture programming in formal classrooms throughout the state of Utah.
•Assisting with daily operations by maintaining supplies and facilities, and operating equipment, including university vehicles.
•Assisting the Programs Department with other activities, programs, and seasonal events as needed.

Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area, or equivalency; knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods in order to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects in order to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Bachelor’s degree in Education or Environmental Science.
•An interest in plants demonstrated by education or previous employment.
•Experience working in both outdoor/indoor settings.
•A passion for working with students and teachers. Specifically, in the field of life science.
•Ability to lift 30-50Ibs on a regular basis.
•Ability to travel individually and with a team to various school locations throughout the state.
