Description: The University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a radiologist who is subspecialized in thoracic and cardiac imaging. This individual is expected to make a significant impact in the field of thoracic and cardiac imaging and related areas through innovations and to contribute to a collegial environment that will promote the academic and clinical growth of the Thoracic Imaging section. The candidate is expected to provide clinical services; initiate research projects; actively engage in teaching for residents and fellows; and participate in quality improvement and value initiatives. The academic appointment will be at a rank commensurate with training and experience.
Qualifications: The candidate should be American Board of Radiology (or equivalent) certified or eligible, fellowship trained (or equivalent) in thoracic imaging (including cardiac imaging) and have a strong interest in academic radiology. Outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. The candidate should have strong academic interest and prior evidence of research productivity. Active engagement in investigational research and extramurally funded research projects is desired.
Facilities and Institution: The section provides clinical services at the University Hospital, VA medical center, and the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, an NCI -designated premier cancer center. Outstanding resources include a new CT biopsy suite, IR- MRI suite, and upcoming new 2-floor IR suite in the main hospital. Extensive imaging resources, including multiple MRIs, dual-energy CTs, and PET -CT scanners are also available for clinical work and research. The Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research ( UCAIR ) in the Department offers world-class research opportunities in advanced medical imaging. Research C-arm for pre-clinical studies is available for interventional radiology research. There is an active high-intensity focused ultrasound ( HIFU ) program. The University of Utah Health Sciences offer various leadership programs and training opportunities for faculty members.
