Position Summary: The University of Utah, College of Nursing is seeking a qualified Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner for an administrative faculty appointment as a Specialty Track Director. This position will combine leadership, teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice in the Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner ( WHNP ) track of the Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ) program.

Criteria : Graduation from an accredited WHNP program; doctoral preparation ( DNP or PhD); National Certification Corporation ( NCC ) certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner ( WHNP ); Utah State APRN licensure and prescriptive authority; Basic Cardiac Life Support certification; and five or more years’ experience as a practicing WHNP are required. Leadership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with other members of health care and academic teams, are essential. At least three years of experience in a faculty role with a successful track record of didactic and clinical teaching, scholarly productivity, and service is required, preferably within a research-intensive academic health sciences center. A program of research is compatible with this position, although not required.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities: The Specialty Track Director serves as a full-time faculty member in the tenure line or career line and provides leadership of WHNP faculty and DNP students to assure students attain specialty track and DNP program outcomes. Working collaboratively with other DNP Specialty Track Directors, responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating specialty-specific curricula, recruiting and advising students, including their admission and progression, and providing oversight of clinical placements. The Specialty Track Director complies with specialty accreditation and reporting requirements, including verification and certification. As appropriate, the Specialty Track Director submits grants to obtain additional support for specialty track development and innovation. In collaboration with other administrators in the college, the Specialty Track Director facilitates WHNP faculty development, participates in faculty evaluation and governance, leads and participates in administrative meetings, and serves as a resource and mentor to other faculty and graduate students.

Reporting Relationships: Individual will report to the Assistant Dean for the Master’s and DNP Programs in the administrative role, and to the Division Chair of Health Systems and Community-Based Care in the faculty role.
