This is an outstanding opportunity to join a vibrant and collegial academic environment. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is recruiting for a Division Chief for Clinical Pharmacology to direct the activities of a growing and thriving research team. The Division Chief will define and execute the strategy needed to fulfill the mission of the division and goals in each of the institution’s missions. This will include responsibility for the coordination and leadership of the overall academic agenda for the Division assuring the quality of the intellectual mission, the clinical mission, and the fiscal health of all matters relating to the Division. The Division of Clinical Pharmacology has major strengths in pharmacometrics, herbal medicine, oncologic drug-drug interactions, formulations, and clinical trials in several areas of pediatric therapeutics.
The Division Chief will also have clinical responsibilities that center on the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Primary Children’s Hospital (PCH). The clinical services provided span all modalities of life-sustaining therapy, including mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring and support, post-operative cardiac and neurosurgical care, trauma management, continuous renal replacement therapy and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
Qualified applicants must have:
• MD and PhD degrees
• Five (5) or more years Doctoral level training and experience in Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
•NIHfunded research, if it can be moved from current location
• Board Certification in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
• Demonstrated leadership and administrative capabilities
• Demonstrated commitment to academics, research, and educational excellence
• Effective management/leadership style
The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
