Directs the operations and strategic planning of the Moran Eye Center’s Global Outreach program and local initiatives designed to establish and support suitable eye care solutions that empower at-risk individuals and communities worldwide. This position requires significant visibility and relationship management with internal and external business partners in addition to the administrative supervision of program operations, staff, and financial functions. Will act as a liaison between multiple departments, physicians, staff, and community members to ensure continuity and quality of programs and services.
This position is considered Category IIA : Not required on campus and has the ability to telework remotely for the duration of the University of Utah’s response to COVID -19. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID -19 Telecommuting Agreement.
•Directs the development of short and long term global outreach strategic plans that align with staff management, patient/customer service, educational, and financial objectives of the Department of Ophthalmology and University of Utah missions.
•Implements strategic plans through budget management, capital needs and space assessment, evaluating and reporting on market requirements, staff planning, etc.
•Coordinates and collaborates on Global Outreach efforts with partners including assigned staff, faculty leadership, department leadership, and, when appropriate, report on efforts to donor sponsors.
•Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers by serving as a spokesperson for the Global Outreach Program and acts as a liaison to donor boards and similar community programs.
•Identify and actively seek funding opportunities including grant and gifts through collaborative efforts with donor development team.
•Participate in events including but not limited fundraising events, attending industry conferences, etc. to promote awareness and learn about sustainable eye care solutions that align with mission.
•Oversees all aspects of staff management including recruitment and retention of assigned staff and ensuring competency and growth opportunities of staff.
•Participates in university-wide committees to establish customer/patient service and administrative plans and policies.
Incumbents in this position have the authority to manage assigned units and designated programs and services. They are responsible for ensuring that diverse patient/customer, family and community issues affecting customer/patient service and care are resolved. Directs the planning and administration of the unit’s budget and makes spending decisions within budget guidelines. Oversees program development for assigned units and ensures that policies and procedures are followed.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related area, or equivalency; eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communications skills required.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related area preferred.
