Job Summary

Supports the development and implementation of digital marketing for University of Utah Health’s Office of Advancement. The manager will be in at the ground floor of our digital marketing efforts as we build a new website and launch into targeted campaigns to communicate with our donor audience. The manager will conduct market research, analyses, and assisting in the design and implementation of marketing strategies and materials using the full array of digital tools.

Responsibilities

1.Coordinates and implements marketing communication projects that include advancement annual giving, alumni and donor relations, digital advertising, social media, brand awareness, and special events management.

2.Develops new and updates existing databases to meet departmental research information and statistical needs.

3.Assists in marketing surveys, research projects and focus groups from initial questionnaires to compiling information.

4.Working with partners and internal clients, identifies potential data sources, gathers needed data and provides analyses.

5.Assists in the conceptualization and delivers digital promotional materials such as web pages, email campaigns, social media, targeted messaging, drip campaigns, digital case statements, videos, presentations, etc.

6.Coordinates the design and production of marketing materials using outside vendors.

7.Develops and maintains the Office of Advancement and Alumni websites, supports the crowdfunding programs, Thankview platform, social media content, digital ads, and giving sites.

8.Writes and produces written communications tools which can then be deployed on digital properties.

9.Writes emails, invitations, appeals, scripts, and stewardship pieces, occasionally, to facilitate overflow work of writers.

10.Designs and provides graphic support based on templates to facilitate overflow work of design team.

11.Provides video camera work, editing, script writing and production for public service announcements and/or promotional videos.

Problem Solving

The incumbent has the authority to assist clients in narrowing their target audience, using quantitative and qualitative research to determine messaging, execute campaigns based on strategy, then analyze the results.

Representative challenges faced by the incumbent include working with various areas to coordinate marketing and communications efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Preferences

Experience with HTML , Email Marketing, Adobe Creative Suite, Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Our creative team works primarily with Apple. Additional familiarity with CSS and Javascript not required but welcome.
