Job Summary

The Utah Education and Telehealth Network ( UETN ) is a statewide research and education network connecting 1,800 locations throughout the state of Utah. This network provides primary, secondary and higher education locations access to the Internet and national research networks. UETN also provide services to dozens of hospitals and clinics for telehealth applications. We are seeking an experienced DevOps Network Engineer who will lead in development in network automation tools for staging, service provisioning, configuration, management and lab regression testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain automation systems for network devices.

• Automate router code regression testing

• Automate feature regression testing in lab

• Automate network changes and code upgrades

• Review and create workflow documentation

• Evaluate or create tooling for network operators and engineers

• Lab testing network designs and new features

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering or computer science required.

• 5+ years experience network design

• 3+ years of software development experience in the networking domain.

• 5+ years of Linux systems.

• Infrastructure automation (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.)

• Experience using API’s to automate configuration and management of networking equipment.

• Solid understanding of fundamental IP network protocols ( OSPF , BGP , MPLS , Segment Routing).

• Experience with network troubleshooting and monitoring.

• Data visualization using Grafana or similar.

• Experience with Active monitoring of applications, networks or systems.

• Experience with Python.

• Experience with open-source network automation systems.
