Job Summary

The University of Utah Athletics Department seeks an energetic and enthusiastic development professional to manage aspects of the development program within the department. This position specifically will support the Crimson Club. The Assistant Director of the Crimson Club will develop strategies for fundraising campaigns, maintain and grow support of Crimson Club members, oversee fulfillment of membership benefits, design and send regular communications to members and to members. This position will report directly to the Director of the Crimson Club.


· Work with development team to develop and execute strategic fundraising plans.

· Build authentic relationships with Crimson Club members and identify major giving prospects from pool of annual donors.

· Organize and execute regular member communications.

· Process gifts and other transactions and update records in CRM .

· Regular tracking and maintenance of Crimson Club membership records and relationships.

· Provide excellent customer service to Utah Athletics supporters in person, online, and by telephone.

· Coordinate philanthropy with the University’s Advancement Office with respect to prospect management, research, gift agreements, gift processing etc.

· Collaborate with other external units to advance departmental goals and ensure member needs are met.

· With Director, coordinate the activities and meetings of constituent boards.

· Assist with planning/execution of events as assigned.

· Be present at athletics events to oversee hospitality and ensure quality of member experience.

· Work effectively in a fast-paced, shared environment.

· Manage fulfillment of member benefits, including parking.

· Other Duties as assigned.

· Travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Marketing or a related field.

Prior experience in fundraising, public relations, annual, corporate or foundation giving, marketing or sales.

Demonstrated customer relations and effective communication skills required.

CRM experience.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail.

Prior experience in collegiate athletics development is preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.


Must be personable with excellent communication skills, and able to take initiative and work independently while also being able to participate in team efforts as necessary. Thorough understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with the willingness/ability to learn new computer programs are highly preferred. Experience in collegiate athletics fundraising is preferred.
