Job Summary

The Student Support Initiatives team in University Advancement is seeking a student intern to assist with stewardship, communications, and other development-related projects. This position will report to the Stewardship Officer, but will also provide project support for all team members and their respective areas of advancement including Student Affairs, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Undergraduate Studies, Graduate Studies, and Financial Aid & Scholarships.

Responsibilities

The Development Intern will assist with a variety of projects such as:

  • Pulling donor gift reports using Salesforce
  • Compiling and mailing acknowledgment letters and other stewardship reports
  • Content creation for donor thank you messages using ThankView and Gratavid
  • Sending donor thank you gifts
  • Event planning and support
  • Student outreach
  • Annual campaign communications

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current, enrolled undergraduate student at the University of Utah.

Preferences

  • Pursuing degree in a related field plus one year of related experience or equivalency
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to this role. Intermediate to high proficiency in writing and proofreading content for email newsletters, thank you letters, blogs, or newsletter articles.
  • Previous experience with donor events and/or fundraising.
  • Students interested in pursuing a career in communications or event management are encouraged to apply.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Skills related to document editing and proofreading, video editing, graphic design, illustration, and/or Adobe Create Suite proficiency are a plus.
