Job Summary

The database analyst will assist in providing database support for the database using triggers and stored procedures as well as helping with database design and administration. In addition s/he will be involved with a number of research projects within the Pedigree and Population Resource. This will include quality control of data, summary statistics on data sets, and creation of data sets for research projects and manipulation of data.

Work Tasks and Duties

1.Creation of Data sets and Data Analysis for researchers usingSQL: This may require extensive manipulation of the database and coding of variables, as well as documentation of data sets. Some preliminary analysis and report writing may also be necessary.

2.Assist in administratingSQLDatabase, updating triggers and procedures to maintain data quality and database integrity.

3.Loading Records into the database from annual updates of Data Contributors: This will involve writing and updating procedures in transactSQL, checking data, quality control of data, interacting with Data Contributors.

Problem-Solving

Problems will involve data analysis, determining the needs of the researcher and solving complex data analysis problems programmatically. Problems will be solved by working as a team and utilizing skills and knowledge of co-workers as well as contributing additional insights based on the programmer’s experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferences

This position requires extreme care and attention to detail with a good knowledge of large data sets as a background Experience in programming with a Relational Database Management System, especiallySQLServer for at least 3 years and a bachelor’s degree in health related area or computer science is strongly preferred or equivalent experience.
