The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah is seeking anABMGGboard-certified or board-eligible Cytogeneticist to work as a Medical Director atARUPLaboratories. The successful candidate will have a faculty appointment in the Department of Pathology with rank based on experience. Required qualifications include a PhD or MD/DO degree, as well as certification or active candidate status in Cytogenetics or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics.

Medical Directors working in ARUP’s Cytogenetics and Genomic Microarray laboratories provide high-quality clinical service in genetic and genomic testing across a variety of clinical indications, including postnatal and prenatal diagnostic testing, pregnancy loss, and hematologic and solid tumor testing. Qualified candidates must have competency in chromosome analysis,FISH, and genomic microarray/copy number variant interpretation in both constitutional and oncology settings. Primary responsibilities include test result interpretation and reporting; clinician and client consultation; quality control and quality assurance; residents, fellows, and genetic counseling student’s education; participation in test development and research projects; and committee service. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical and academic background appropriate to their level of training and experience, as well as excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
