Job Summary

The University of Utah’s General Stores Department is seeking a candidate who will be responsible to order, receive, inspect, warehouse and issue equipment, materials and supplies to various University departments. This position will also assist with outgoing shipments as well as receiving and delivering compressed gases.

Responsibilities

Maintains stock room. Helps customers shopping for materials and services. Receives and delivers compressed gases and troubleshoots issues with tanks and regulators.

Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required

Often: Hazards ( includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals ).

Seldom: Extreme cold, extreme heat, noise ( there is sufficient noise to cause you to shout in order to be heard above the noise level).

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required

Nearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking.

Often: Walking, standing, bending, lifting – up to 50 pounds.

Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead, lifting – over 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years shipping and receiving/stockroom experience, or equivalency, with preferably at least two years supervisory experience; the ability to routinely move or manipulate heavy objects; a knowledge of standard warehousing procedures; demonstrated human relations skills; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. A valid Utah Driver’s license with proof of insurability may be required for positions that require delivery responsibilities.

Preferences

Preference will be given to candidates with a Class A or B CDL with hazmat endorsement and valid medical DOT card.
