Primary responsibility is providing purchasing support for all entities within a large department.
1. Purchasing equipment and supplies needed for the daily operations of a department, including research activities.
Determines appropriate purchasing process to use (using University guidelines/policies), makes purchases, ensuring accuracy of cost and quantity, etc. Tracks receipt of purchases, resolves any problems (including returns, replacements, and credits).
2. Ascertains that purchases on research grants are in accordance with the awarded budget and that sufficient funds are still available. Educates department personnel on proper purchasing procedures.
3. Maintains databases to assist financial personnel in keeping track of costs and status of accounts.
4. Ensures that appropriate inventory information is gathered for equipment purchases and provides asset tags as necessary.

Four years purchasing/business experience or equivalency, experience with database management, and strong organizational skills required. Supervisory experience and a background in electronic transfer systems preferred.

Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Office (primarily Excel), organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and competing deadlines is necessary. Problem Solving: This position works independently in performing most assignments, with oversight provided by department financial personnel.
