Job Summary

Maintains a flexible part time schedule to: collaborate within a supportive team environment to create marketing and communications materials that maximize exposure, awareness and event traffic; and ensure effective internal and external communications; and designs marketing materials for print, web/digital and social media.

Responsibilities

  1. Duties are executed in collaboration with and supported by the College of Fine Arts MarComm team and the DoT Marketing & Communications Coordinator and include:

  2. Designs collateral and communications materials primarily the Department of Theatre (DoT), and also for the College of Fine Arts and its academic units when time permits.

  3. Assists the Department of Theatre in managing communications and marketing activities related to promoting the DoT’s season, programs, people, and events.
  4. Maintains branding standards of the U of U, CFA and DoT.
  5. Identifies stories within (from faculty, students, etc.) that are either newsworthy or potential web/blog content.

  6. Writes and produces written communications including, but not limited to, website articles, social media content plans, blog posts, press releases, advertising copy, Public Service Announcements, etc.

  7. Supports the planning and execution of CFA events including the annual Arts Bash and CFA Gala.
  8. Setting and maintaining a work schedule with CFA MarComm Team and DoT Marketing & Communications Coordinator. Flexibility with work hours is available.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related area, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). One year of related experience and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience in different styles of writing, publishing software packages and advertising concepts may be preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

  • Strong graphic design background, experience, portfolio and proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Storytelling skills (written and visual)
  • Work experience or background in the arts
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new processes and engage in collaborative problem-solving.
