Responsible for clinical research data collection for the Hematology Multidisciplinary Disease Groups and other disease groups as assigned. Access various clinical data sources to abstract information necessary for research and publications. Perform quality checks on data. Coordinate activities on various research projects, which may involveIRBsubmission and maintenance, and possibly patient interaction. Work with a programmer to train a natural language processing program to abstract discrete clinical data from textual medical records. Assist with the development of data structures to capture clinical elements across all related cancer types. Maintain work practice documents that outline all data collection activities. Position will have supervisory and training responsibilities and will perform quality assurance across other Multidisciplinary Disease Groups.
1. Oversees the collection and organization of data that are entered into databases.
2. Ensures the accuracy of data, analyzes conflicting data, and verifies/collects missing information.
3. Utilizes computer programs/software to analyze data; determines trends and changes in data.
4. Develops and presents recommendations for a course of action based on the analysis of data.
5. Provides documents/reports to administrators and outside agencies as required.
6. Handles special projects and creates special reports as needed.
7. May perform supervisory duties.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Two years experience in collecting, organizing analyzing, and presenting data; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preference to candidates with experience in research analysis, medical terminology,ICDOcoding, working with physicians, and reviewing medical charts.
