Job Summary

The University of Utah Physician Assistant Program ( UPAP ) is one of the oldest programs in the country. Beginning in 1970 with 11 students we have grown to be one of the nation’s top ranked programs with two campuses in Salt Lake City and St. George. Our mission is to improve the quality of health and access to care, with a commitment to the medically underserved, by educating students to become highly proficient, socially conscious, and accountable physician assistants (PAs) in the primary care model. Maintaining strong relationships with our clinical partners is key to promoting our mission and this employee will play an important role in this by maintaining clinical site/preceptor contracts. This employee will also be able to participate in the day-to-day operations of the clinical year by providing administrative support to the clinical team.

1. Assist with collection and maintenance of required clinical preceptor credentials including input into EXXAT system.

2. Assist with collection and maintenance of clinical preceptor affiliation agreements for the program

3. Process payments and create contracts for all vendors or services as required by the clinical team. This includes preceptor contracts, vendor contracts, invoicing. Diligence in ensuring that all payments are processed timely.

4. Process travel claims for clinical faculty and staff using the SAP Concur System, assist with processing other payment requests and reimbursements as requested.

5. Assist with various needs of the clinical year students including: end of rotation exams, return visits and any events during clinical year

6. Proctor student exams at SLC campus

7. Reserve rooms and manage all event details for exams, return visits and any events occurring at SLC campus during the clinical year

8. Serve as staff support on PA Scholarship committee

9. Manage student malpractice insurance renewals, verifications, incident reports and workers’ compensation claims

10. Answer student questions in a professional and prompt manner via email, in person and telephone communications

11. Answer clinical preceptor and faculty questions in a professional and prompt manner on a daily basis via email, in person and telephone communications

12. Assist with additional PA program activities, events, and duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education), and two years related experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Preference will be given to applicants who experience processing financial transactions.

Preference will also be given to applicants who have experience in a medical office or medical records setting.
