Job Summary

Content Management & Usability, a division of University IT, is seeking a University of Utah student to provide web content management related support services, including user experience design, for college, departmental, and program websites. The successful candidate will undergo training, but will be expected to have good working knowledge of content layout and user-centered design, content management systems, and web-related technologies.

Students who are interested in building and supporting high quality, user-centered University websites – specifically those majoring in Communications, Marketing, Multi-Disciplinary Design, or Business Information Systems – may benefit most from this work experience.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Content Management and Usability team, the successful candidate will:

·Provide quality website and content management support to clients

·Assist with tool administration and clean-up tasks

·Build high quality, user-centered websites using industry best practices including:

-writing for the web

-content design and layout

-usability testing and methodologies

-search engine optimization

-accessibility

-information architecture design

-website migration processes

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current University of Utah Student.

·Strong web page layout and design skills

·Working knowledge of user-center design principles and methodologies

·Experience creating and editing content within a CMS

·Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (photograph enhancement/image manipulation)

·Working knowledge of HTML , CSS , and JavaScript

·Self-motivated with a desire to learn

·Positive attitude towards all types of projects

·Detail oriented with strong organization skills

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·Service and teamwork oriented

·Ability to think logically, and communicate clearly and diplomatically

·Enthusiasm about job and pride in work
