Job Summary

The individual in this position is a key member of the Academic Advising Center team.

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, they will work to ensure that we have continuous and optimal technical tools that support our efforts. The individual must demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals, demonstrate a record of being able to learn new technologies and an understanding of how to assist others to adapt to those technologies that impact the delivery of advising. Effective written and oral communication skills in combination with strong technical skills are paramount for success in this position.

Responsibilities

1.Contribute to the department through technology to support the mission that focuses on student success and goal attainment

2.Evaluate, select, and maintain computers and equipment for the department. Contribute to the decision-making process for acquisitions for technology within the office. This includes hardware (computers, monitors, printers) and software. Provide daily desktop support as well as training and documentation. Coordinate with Student Affairs Support as needed.

3.Student Records Database – Assist Director of Operations in testing, staff support and data processing for various programs within the Academic Advising Center

4.Learning Management System / Appointment Management System — serve as additional technical support within the department

5.Media Support — facilitate audio-visual support for various events

6.Participate in departmental staff meetings and retreats to facilitate use of technology in a style that encourages all members of the team to embrace the possibilities

7.Assist in maintaining department webpages

8.Other projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a computer related field and two years of experience or equivalency recommended. Demonstrated computer skills, human relations and effective communication skills are required.

Preferences

Bachelor’s degree

Background in desktop support and web page development and maintenance Experience in a higher education setting (work)

Experience with MS operating systems and software

Experience with administrative computing systems such as PeopleSoft or Banner
