Supports administrative operations and coordination of human subjects research studies – specifically the Adaptive COVID -19 Treatment Trial 4 ( ACTT -4). Assists the Study Coordinator(s) and Principal Investigator in achieving study integrity and objectives through the successful implementation and completion of protocols and procedures through the duration of the study.
This position is considered Category IIA : Not required on campus and has the ability to telework remotely for the duration of the University of Utah’s response to COVID -19. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID -19 Telecommuting Agreement.
1. Explains and obtains informed consent, medical history and demographics; documents in source file and maintains with historical data, status reports, progress notes, and subject log to help ensure subject safety.
2. Reports and tracks adverse events (AE). Reports serious AEs to Study Coordinator(s)
3. Maintain supply inventory, including ordering supplemental test articles and returning unused test articles to sponsor.
4. Prepares and maintains regulatory documents.
5. Enters demographic information into a database.
6. Determines visit windows from protocol, schedules subject visits and sends visit reminders.
7. Organizes and prepares area for study related equipment and supplies.
8. Schedules and coordinates pre-study and monitor site visits.
9. Transmits Case Report Form data by fax, express mail, or other means dictated by sponsor.
10. Ensures study visits and procedures do not conflict with existing schedules.
11. May perform functions required of the Study Coordinator as necessary.

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
Seldom: Infectious disease, exposure to animals, oils ( there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids )
Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required
Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.
Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.
Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
Associates degree or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Completion of HIPAA Privacy & Security training may be required within two to five days of hire. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
