Job Summary

Coordinates research and administrative activities in support of the institutional biobanking research initiative: Huntsman Cancer Institute-Total Cancer Care and the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN.) Helps develop research interests of newly involved investigators using theTCCprotocol as well as those previously established.

Responsibilities

The position involves a variety of tasks such as offering enrollment to patients, collaboration with clinic staff, coordination with the Biorepository, regulatory support and other research related tasks.

The coordinator works under the direction of the Program Manager for Total Cancer Care, consults with the team on project/study issues and/or solicits guidance as necessary. S/he works independently with health care providers and patients.

Essential Functions

1. Coordinates and performs responsibilities such as patient identification, recruitment, obtaining informed consent, and other patient communications in multiple clinics atHCI.

2. Helps support theORIENAvatar project & continues to develop it as it grows.

4. Assists the Program Manager withHCI-Total Cancer Care research related tasks.

5. Provides regulatory support for the study such as amendments, continuing reviews and report forms.

6. Works closely with the Biorepository and Molecular Pathology Shared Resource and investigators and ensures proper collection and processing of specimens.

7. Monitors enrollment goals and helps to optimize the study.

8. Performs other responsibilities as required.

He/she prioritizes and helps optimize processes needed to achieve study goals. He/she functions independently under minimal supervision. He/she has a solid understanding of good clinical practice and research processes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a health sciences or related field with two years professional research experience and completion of UniversityRATSClinical Certification within one year of hire required. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices,FDA,HIPAAandIRBregulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently is preferred.

Departments may requireIRBCITICourse orIATADGRtraining within a specified timeframe.

Departments may prefer a nursing degree for this position, which requires the incumbent to have two years related experience and possess a nationally recognized research compliance certification.
