Job Summary

The Division of General Internal Medicine is looking for a Clinical Research Coordinator, Sr to assist a Principal Investigator in building a research program to improve quality of care and patient safety and outcomes for hospitalized patients. The role will consist of multiple and broad duties to assist in completing study objectives. Oversees and assists with quantitative, qualitative and implementation research studies in an administrative and operational capacity while maintaining compliance with guidelines set by governing agencies and assisting in dissemination of study results.

While the bulk of initial work will involve assisting a single Principal Investigator in work related to inpatient medicine and antibiotic stewardship research, the goal is for this position to grow into future management of multiple research projects within a research team. After learning many of the skills, there will be opportunities to work with and mentor clinical faculty to help advance quality improvement research. Flexibility, adaptability, and organizational skills are a must.

Responsibilities

1.Project management and coordination including recruitment, scheduling, arranging/running Zoom meetings, organizing results for presentations, obtaining informed consent, and processing incentives.

2.Data collection including survey construction (experience with REDCap or Qualtrecs beneficial) and administration, qualitative data collection (interviews and focus groups), coordination with data analysts to interpret and present results. Though prior experience with basic data analysis is a plus, it is not required.

3.Submitting IRBs amendments and other regulatory materials.

4.Working with funders to ensure deliverables (e.g., project reports and updates, coordinating with finances department, maintaining project timelines)

5.Developing and monitoring study budgets and processing reimbursements and costs.

6.Contribute to developing education materials to educate community and other research professional around research studies and results.

7.Supervising, mentoring, and training new or junior research staff. Eventually building to mentor clinical faculty new to research.

8.Editing, developing, submitting and presenting research abstracts and other methods of dissemination.

9.Manuscript editing and submission. Co-authorship is expected on multiple projects.

10.Grant editing and formatting building toward grant writing and preparation.

11.Assisting the Principal Investigator in the development of study protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a health science or related field or equivalency; plus, 4 years professional research experience and completion of University RATS Clinical Certification within one year of hire required. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA , HIPAA and IRB regulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently is preferred.

Departments may require IRB CITI Course or IATA DGR training within a specified timeframe.

Departments may prefer a nursing degree for this position, which requires the incumbent to have two years related experience and possess a nationally recognized research compliance certification.

Master’s degree in health science or related field or equivalency is a plus; 4 years professional research experience and completion of University RATS Clinical Certification within one year of hire required. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA , HIPAA and IRB regulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently is preferred.

Proficiency in PC environment and with programs including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point are necessary

Departments may require IRB CITI Course or IATA DGR training within a specified timeframe.

Basic data analysis skills in STATA , SAAS , or similar program are helpful but not required

Outstanding computer and technology skills including proficiency in word, excel, Power Point, adobe, and outlook. Plus (but not required) Qualtrecs, REDCap, STATA / SAAS /or similar.
