This position is for a Clinical Research Assistant to support research projects funded by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute and other federal granting agencies including theNIHand DoD. The projects are clinical trials examining different treatments for individuals with chronic pain. The Clinical Research Assistant will work under the direction and supervision of the projects’ Principal Investigator (Julie Fritz), and be responsible for the coordination of research activities, including facilitation of stakeholder and patient meetings and general conduct of clinical research. This person will become part of an interdisciplinary research team dedicated to conducting rigorous clinical trials to identify effective, non-pharmacologic treatments for patients with chronic pain.
1.Assist the Principal Investigator in the development of study protocols.
2.Recruit patients with chronic pain from the community to serve on advisory committees to inform research projects
3.Facilitate meetings with patient advisory committees including conference calls and in-person meetings
4.Conduct outcomes assessments of patient and stakeholder engagement activities
5.Oversee compliance to research protocols; manages quality control, completion and submission of study related documentation by all research staff.
6.Monitor and manage participant recruitment into research projects, enrollment, and tracking including strategies to meet enrollment and compliance goals.
7.Recognize, track and report adverse events and protocol deviations.
8.Prepares, submits and maintains regulatory documents for theIRB,NIHand other applicable agencies.
9.Assist investigators with creation, dissemination, and publication of research results.
10.Coordinate and document communication, meeting notes and ongoing task assignment and completion of study investigators and research staff.

1.Bachelors degree in a health or social science or related field with at least 1 year of professional research or patient engagement experience.
2.Experience with community/patient outreach activities
3.Experience with meeting facilitation
4.Completion of University of UtahRATSClinical Certification andCITIHuman Subjects Certification within one year of hire required.
5.Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
6.Experience with Redcap software and basic Microsoft office computing skills
7.Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices,HIPAAandIRBregulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently is preferred.
