The David Eccles School of Business is seeking high-achieving students for our Classroom Technical Support Assistant positions for the Fall 2020 semester. Students hired in this position can expect to work 10-20 hours per week on-campus and must adhere social distancing and face covering policies outlined in the Student Code of Rights and Responsibilities https://returntocampus.utah.edu/student-information. Students in this program will work closely with IT professionals and Eccles School faculty to coordinate the delivery of online and hybrid classes. Eccles Technical Support Assistants will receive training in the operation and troubleshooting of classroom software and hardware tools such as Zoom, Kaltura Media, Canvas, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc.
Attend weekly in-person class sessions.
Assist instructors with connecting their computers to classroom AV technology
Start Zoom or other group collaboration applications, so that remote students can participate in the class being taught
Moderate chat tools and help remote students present their questions to the class instructor
Help identify technical problems with audio, video,and networking. Provide solutions or options so that the class can continue
Start, stop and manage class recordings
Be familiar with the various ways that the classroom AV technology can be used for teaching, and offer assistance with the technology to the instructor as needed
Liaise with Eccles IT Help Desk as necessary with any escalating technical problems
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint)
Playing videos on a computer from a flash drive or cloud storage
Changing display settings on Windows or Mac computers
Changing audio settings on a Windows or Mac computer
Ability to work under pressure in situations that can be very stressful
Reliable, will show up to work when scheduled and be on time
Able to operate basic webcam and computer microphone equipment.
Familiar with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, or other collaboration applications
Strong communication skills
