The University of Utah College of Nursing seeks an experienced nurse faculty member who has an established record of leadership, research/scholarship, teaching, and service to serve as the Chair of the Division of Health Systems and Community-Based Care. The Division Chair is a key academic administrator who leads and supervises more than 50 faculty in the Division of Health Systems and Community-Based Care, and implements the vision, mission, and strategic goals of the College of Nursing.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities :

Works collaboratively with the Dean, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, Track and Specialty Track Directors, and Chair of the Acute and Chronic Care Division, and faculty of the Health Systems and Community-Based Care Division.

Visionary and strategic leadership for within the College of Nursing.

· Represents division faculty on the College of Nursing Academic Leadership Team, and assigned committees.

· Operationalizes the College’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.

· Addresses concerns of division members, and communicates College and university level information to division faculty.

· Represents the College of Nursing within health sciences and the University of Utah.

· Performs other duties delegated by the Dean.

Administrative leadership and supervision for faculty assigned to the Division of Health Systems and Community-Based Care.

· Directly supervises more than 50 tenure-line, career-line, or adjunct faculty as well as staff members.

· Manages resources allocated to the division, including travel and professional development funds.

· Assigns faculty office space and oversees common areas in coordination with the Associate Dean of Finance and Administration.

· Coordinates onboarding of new faculty.

· Develops and leads college-wide faculty development programs and mentoring initiatives.

· Coordinates faculty assignments with faculty, administrators, and academic leaders.

· Evaluates tenure-line, career-line, and paid adjunct faculty.

· Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Finance and Administration and the Dean regarding annual faculty contracts and faculty workload distribution.

· Manages faculty conflict of commitment and business relations reporting processes.

· Provides oversight for the Office of Faculty Affairs for activities delegated by the Dean, and serves on search committees.

· Coordinates hiring of adjunct faculty to fill teaching needs.

Research/Scholarship and/or Teaching.

· Conducts research/scholarly activities that align with expertise and personal interests.

· Teaches courses that align with expertise and personal interests.

Criteria : The candidate must have earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ) degree in nursing or a health science discipline, and must be licensed in Utah or qualified to obtain a Utah license if applicable to professional discipline. The candidate must have, or meet requirements for, a career- or tenure-line appointment within the College at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The candidate must have a sustained record of excellence in education and research/scholarship, and will have demonstrated strong interpersonal and communications skills, a track record of open, transparent communication, and a demonstrated ability to work productively with individuals and interdisciplinary groups. A history of successfully supervising and mentoring faculty and staff is strongly desired.

· Demonstrated ability to build collaborations and coordinate multiple programs and initiatives among multiple faculty, academic, administrative, and community constituents.

· Demonstrated success planning, leading change, managing projects, evaluating initiatives, and achieving goals.

· Ability to develop and implement strategies to address long-term opportunities.

· Ability to successfully manage multiple and competing priorities and deadlines within a complex organization.

· Understand and support appropriate technology integration, data management, and software systems.
